We had a fabulous day on Saturday as a number of us learned from one another about what strengths our congregation has to offer. The Appreciative Inquiry process is one in which we learn, grow and dream from our strengths. I was amazed at some of the dreams that came up; becoming a multicultural, multigenerational community, able to listen to one another over hard things, being a center for even greater community engagement. The dreams and ideas are up on the walls of the sanctuary. Come and learn more. And then be sure to attend our next Saturday summit on April 22.
Also up on our East Wing glass is a huge time line. Be sure to stop in and put up a sticky note about what you remember as important in our congregational life and what was happening in your life. It’s a very powerful reminder of just how long we have been growing and dreaming here.
By one accounting we are approaching our 75th anniversary as a congregation in 2024. I would like to see us mark this next year as a reminder of how far we have come and a call to a new beginning of our next seventy five years. It’s been quite a ride! And I am certain that whatever surprises and turns are ahead will only help us work even harder for what we dream. As Michelle Obama put it: “The only limit to the height of your achievements is the reach of your dreams and the willingness to work hard for them.”
Yours, Rev. John
