9 Ways of Being (date and time to be determined)
What is “personality”? What is true or false, learned, or innate? How do certain personality combinations interact? Do the same behaviors indicate the same motives? How do I break free of a way of being that is not really me? This is an exciting topic! And one that has been life-changing from many who have studied it. By better understanding the way each of us interprets and reacts to our world we become more accepting and compassionate – of both self, and other.
“The Enneagram of personality is a modern synthesis of ancient and modern psychological and spiritual teachings” (Russ Hudson, and the late Don Riso). The study of Enneagram is meant to enhance self-understanding: one’s own motives, loves, hopes, and ways of processing grief or loss. Self-insight ideally clears the way for listening deeply to the heart of another, which is the foundation of a healthy community.
Please refer to enneagraminstitute.com, for more information on this topic, for which we will offer an introductory course in 2022. We have two students of the Enneagram amongst us, who are glad to impart what they have learned from some of the great teachers of this system: Rev Dr. Laurie Andersen and Mark Goodwin. More details to come!
