Recently in our Staples High School we have suffered the loss of a student and young teacher to suicide. This experience is jolting at the least and can be very traumatic at many levels for individuals, families, students and fellow faculty. It leaves a lot of open questions. And while there may never be adequate answers for those questions… there are ways to process them in a supportive fashion. The development of social support through conversations creating connections can be very helpful. We know there are members of our congregation who have been touched by this harsh reality.
As a way to help deal with this trauma we are scheduling a facilitated open session to be held at our church on Saturday February 20th from 4:00-6:00 pm. This session will be facilitated by Jim Francek, MSW (Chaplain in the Emergency Department/Bridgeport Hospital and Pat Francek, LCSW (Psychotherapist and Pastoral Care Associate). Our session will also be supported by Rev. John Morehouse, Mary Collins, Director of Faith Development and Cal Wacker, Youth Director at our church.
Parents and teenagers are welcome to come to this meeting where we will share experiences, feelings and resources.
If you have any questions or concerns please contact Rev. John.
