Dear Members and Friends,
I am pleased to announce that I have hired Micah Krajca to be your Director of Music in the next worship year. Micah was originally hired as Interim Director of Music in a half-time position that extends through June. Beginning in August, Micah will work with UU Westport in a 3/4 time position.
Micah will collaborate with the incoming Transitional Senior Minister to enhance the worship services with a wide range of music. In addition to the adult choirs, he will also coordinate the Teen Choir. He is excited to cultivate opportunities for members to participate in engaging and meaningful music opportunities.
I am grateful to Cathy Paine, Andy Gundell, Tom Hearne, Wendy Levy, and Phil Thomas for serving on the Search Team to discern the needs of our congregation and help me develop the job description for this new position.
I am also grateful to Kim Fuchs, Sharon Poole, and Deb Garskof who serve on the Human Resources Team that has helped me navigate the hiring process.
Lexie and Nick will continue to work with the Teen Choir through June. Nick will continue with us as accompanist and as the conductor of the Bells Choir–and Lexie will be returning to graduate school. I’m grateful for how they have provided leadership this year with our teens and children.
Given how Micah has engaged our choirs and become integrated into the staff, I am delighted that he will be continuing on as the permanent Director of Music.
If you haven’t been involved with the Music Program, this coming year may be a good time to do so!
Warmly,
Rev. Alan Taylor
