Since 2008, Westbridge (WB) volunteers have helped to preserve the local affordable housing stock by repairing and renovating over 150 homes in and around Bridgeport for low-income families. Our clients are often the elderly, the disabled, single moms, widows, or vets who need warm, dry and safe homes. We also help out other nonprofits with building tasks – including building library bookcases for TUUCW’s adopted Beardsley School. All materials and labor are free to those served, thanks to the support of local churches and individuals. Jobs include fixing leaks, updating bathrooms, installing floors, patching sheetrock, and building wheelchair ramps. Skill levels range from experienced craftsmen to beginners. Volunteers from all walks of life meet on Thursdays and/or Saturday as they are free.
If you want to help out with housing, meet a group of good people, and work with your hands, consider joining us. Contact Mark Corcoran.
