For Micah, music is a constant—it was here before us and will be here long after us. It has always been a kind of life force, carrying our stories and giving us ways to connect when words aren’t enough. As a music educator, choral director, and performing artist, Micah feels incredibly lucky to spend his life making music with other people.
As Music Director at UUWestport, Micah has found a community and position he deeply loves. He wants the music program to be a spiritually fulfilling place where people come not only to sing, but to gather, laugh, grow, and know one another more deeply. For Micah, the music matters, but more importantly so do the people making it. Some of his favorite moments happen in rehearsal, when a piece finally clicks, when someone takes a risk, or when a room full of very different people finds themselves breathing, singing, and laughing together.
Micah is currently pursuing his master’s degree at Teachers College, Columbia University, with a focus on vocal pedagogy. He is a summa cum laude graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce and previously directed choirs at Plano West Senior High School and Rockwall High School. He also leads Soundwaves, the high school ensemble of Greenwich A Cappella, where he gets to share his love of singing with the next generation of musicians.
Being a performing artist is an important part of who Micah is and how he teaches. This season, he sings with the VOCES8 Scholars and New York Oratorio Society, with previous work including Choral Chameleon, Empire City Men’s Chorus, and St. Peter’s Church in New York City. Whether he is conducting or singing alongside others, Micah is happiest when music feels alive, when people feel connected, and when everyone in the room knows their presence matters.

Connecticut native Nick Barra is a professional collaborative pianist with expertise in all styles of music – classical, jazz, and all types of contemporary composition. He attended Western Connecticut State University, and graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Music in Audio & Music Production, with concentration in Piano Performance.
Nick is currently employed as an accompanist at Western Connecticut State University, where he enjoys accompanying not only their Concert Chorale choir, but also the entirety of their Classical Brass and Saxophone instrumentalist studios. In addition to this, he works as a freelance accompanist in schools and for musical theatre productions all across Connecticut.
A passion project for him, Nick is also the music director and principal conductor for the Norwalk Gamer Symphony Orchestra; a nonprofit community orchestra that studies and performs Video Game Music, arranged for an orchestral setting.
As Assistant Director of Music at UU Westport, Nick directs the Bell Choir, Co-directs the Teen Choir, and accompanies both adult choirs under the direction of Micah Krajca.
