Hello UUWestport Members and Friends!
I am so glad to join you as your Contract to Call Senior Minister! Thank you for all the warm greetings. What a delight it was to walk in last week and see the children’s welcome messages decorating my office door. And thank you to the UUWestport Care Network for the lovely gift of flowers.
In my first week here at UUWestport I have been settling into my office, meeting with staff, and connecting with some of the congregation’s leaders. I look forward to getting to know more and more of you in the weeks and months to come. I will be in attendance this upcoming Sunday, August 30th, and begin leading worship on September 6th. Throughout September, we will be exploring the apropos theme of “Beginnings”.
We begin this new ministry together with listening and with learning. I look forward to hearing your stories: what you value and hold dear. I look forward to growing in relationship as we discern new possibilities that might emerge in the year ahead.
To that end, the Transition Team is setting up a meet and greet schedule, which will include listening circles. These circles will provide space for me to hear your hopes and your histories – to know more of what brings you to this space, and more of what you are seeking. Stay tuned for more to come!
At the same time as we set the stage for a good beginning, we also realize that life is ongoing. The world is continuing to spin with more heartbreaking news than we can bear. Joy and sorrow are ever present in our lives, and congregational life invites us to show up for it all, alongside the people we have chosen to walk with on this journey.
And so we begin with intention, right where we are, in the messy middle. I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with you as your minister, and look forward to connecting through our upcoming gatherings. You can also reach me via email and at 203-227-7205 x12.
Onwards as we begin this new journey together.
With hope and joy,
Rev. Terri
